ČEPS, a. s., as a transmission system operator (TSO) in the Czech Republic, is committed to ensuring the quality and reliability of electricity supply in the transmission system (TS). This involves maintaining the frequency and voltage within the TS at levels defined by the TS Code and guaranteeing the continuity of supply at delivery points.
The fundamental requirement for the above is maintaining a balance between production and consumption, ensuring additional power when consumption surpasses production, or reducing production or ensuring consumption in the opposite scenario.
Therefore, the TSO must have a certain amount of reserve regulating power available. However, since the TSO is legally prohibited from owning any electricity sources, it must reserve this regulating power on power plant units based on contracts with individual providers, i.e., electricity producers. The services reserved in this manner are called ancillary services (AS). Producers providing AS commit to maintaining the contracted power, which meets the quality requirements set by the TSO, in standby and to provide it when required.

PEAK SHAVING
During grid consumption at times of peak demand, the battery provides electricity in parallel with the grid, thereby meeting the energy requirement. By reducing these peaks, the client's reserved capacity can be limited, leading to savings on fixed monthly costs and avoiding charges for exceeding reserved capacity.
ENERGY TRADING
The battery storage is charged when electricity prices are low and its energy is used when tariffs are high. This enables additional financial savings for the client.
COLLABORATION WITH RENEWABLE SOURCES
Battery storage can compensate for production outages of renewable sources caused by changes in weather. It also allows for the full utilization of these sources by storing energy generated when production exceeds consumption and providing it for later use.
